Sycamores, a better life is one of the largest, nonprofit, private children’s mental health and welfare agencies in Los Angeles County. They provide a comprehensive continuum of services to over 8,000 children and families annually through a network of facilities stretching across the greater Los Angeles area including the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, and the Antelope Valley.

Sycamores Services include: a residential treatment center (El Nido campus) for youth ages 6 through 18, foster care and adoption services, school-based and outpatient mental health services, wraparound and in-home counseling services, a transitional living program for teens, a family resource center and a grief and loss center for children.

El Nido Residential Campus:  welcomes children and families into a residential treatment program in which caring professionals partner with child and family, building on strengths and identifying needs. Family involvement throughout the child's placement is considered paramount for both successful treatment and reintegration of the child into the community. The staff recognizes that each child and each family is unique. Treatment planning is a collaborative team effort that includes the clinician, program supervisor, childcare workers, psychiatrist, family members, Parent Partners and others involved in the life of the child. In instances where a child's family cannot be immediately identified, team members will attempt to locate family members who may live out of the area or even out of state. If necessary, additional resources are used to help find a family member with whom the child can connect and be united with when treatment is completed. The residential program is designed to reduce stress, stimulation and demands so that the child, with the help of the professional staff and his team, can master the tasks of daily living.
