Holiday of WisheS

Dear Friends,

Los Altos Auxiliary has supported at-risk youth in both the foster care and mental health systems for over 66 years. This year, as in years past, we are dedicated to spreading holiday cheer to both the youth at Sycamores’ El Nido residential campus and the young adults in Sycamores’ Transitional Aged Youth Program. The El Nido group residential campus in Altadena is a welcoming environment that offers intervention and care for dependent or neglected youth ages 11–18. The Transitional Aged Youth Program assists young adults, ages 18–26, who are transitioning out of the foster care system to lead productive and independent lives.

Los Altos intends to provide upwards of 150 youth and young adults with holiday gifts and activities using 100% of your donations in the following ways:

  • El Nido youth will receive five presents from their personalized gift list (totaling $250), a Christmas stocking, and a $50 Target gift card for Christmas. On their birthdays, each child will receive a $50 Target gift card along with home-baked cupcakes from our members.

  • Additionally, we plan to support holiday activities for the staff and residents at El Nido. In the past, this has included Thanksgiving dinners for the youth and their families, a snow day, caroling and cookie-decorating parties, and off-campus activities during the winter break.

  • The approximately 130 young adults in the Sycamores Transitional Aged Youth Program will receive a small gift and a $50 Target gift card, allowing them the autonomy to purchase the items they need.

Decide how you wish to spread holiday cheer—any amount is appreciated!

We thank you in advance and promise to make you proud of your donation. In January, we will share personal thank you notes on how your individual donation specifically benefited the youth and young adults.
